How to Set Up an ODBC Connection to the Fishbowl Database

July 13, 2015
We have done quite a few of these how-to videos, and they’ve all explored an essential item in getting Fishbowl up and running. Now it’s time to take another big step into the world of Fishbowl’s software by taking a look at how to set up ODBC (Open Database Connectivity) connection to the Fishbowl database.

Two Paths to Setting Up an ODBC Connection

Would you like to integrate Fishbowl with UPS Worldship, FedEx Ship Manager, and/or Endicia? Then you need to set up an ODBC connection. The way that you set up an ODBC connection depends on whether your computer uses a 32-bit or 64-bit system. Once you’ve checked that, go into your Fishbowl file from the Start menu and open the ODBC folder, which contains a Firebird ODBC installer. Installing the ODBC is quite simple and can be done in just a few click strokes. After you’ve completed that step, things diverge and get a little complex. Luckily, the video above goes through all of the steps for what to do if you have a 32-bit system or a 64-bit one. So you’re covered either way.
