Fishbowl Competes in 425-Mile Bike Race

Fishbowl's 2014 Salt to Saint Relay participants at the finish line, Fishbowl Blog This past weekend, more than a dozen Fishbowl employees participated in a huge relay bike race that went all the way from Salt Lake City in northern Utah down to St. George at the southwest corner of Utah. The race is appropriately called the Salt to Saint Relay. Utah isn’t exactly known for its flat terrain, and this 425-mile race has a 20,000-foot increase in elevation. It takes a special kind of person to want to take on a challenge like that.

Fishbowl’s Race Results

Fishbowl had two eight-man teams that made this incredible journey together. Their goal was to complete the race in 24 hours, but their final times ended up being way better than they could have hoped: 20:09:55 and 20:19:06, respectively. A total of 82 teams competed. The two Fishbowl teams came in 8th and 9th place overall and 5th and 6th place in the eight-men category. Definitely a respectable performance.

In Honor of a Fallen Friend

Bryan Byrge was an avid cyclist, and he had advocated for Fishbowl to participate in the Salt to Saint Relay. Bryan died tragically in an accident back in March, so he didn’t get to see his efforts come to fruition. His friends here at Fishbowl decided to follow through on his wishes and make this happen. Maybe our teams performed so well because they were inspired by a good cause. We’re a pretty competitive bunch of people and it shows not only in the quality of our athletics but everything we do at Fishbowl.
