Whiteboard Wednesday: Pick, Pack, Ship

May 28, 2014
Picking, packing, and shipping are some of the most basic and important things that companies do on a daily basis. Picking is the process of taking items off the shelves of a warehouse in order to fulfill a customer’s order. Ideally, warehouse workers should be able to pick multiple orders at the same time to make better use of their time and avoid having to go back and forth multiple times when they could have just grabbed more items while they were out the first time. Packing is the process of placing the picked products in a container for shipping. Warehouse workers should be careful not to overstuff containers or make other mistakes that could lead to damaged goods when they reach customers. Shipping is the process of pushing products out to the right locations. This involves getting the right carrier, letting customers know when their items should arrive, and following up to make sure the delivery takes place. All this and more is covered in this week’s Whiteboard Wednesday. Keep coming back for more insights like this on the Fishbowl Blog!
