Christmas Carol Redux: Once in Loyal David’s Fishbowl

As I promised in my Christmas Day blog post last year, I have a wonderful parody of another Christmas Carol to share with you. This one is all about Fishbowl CEO David K. Williams and his habit of miraculously bringing Fishbowl safely through any challenge. I took the story of how Fishbowl got its start and how it was saved from insolvency last year, and turned it into a fun little song. It’s sung to the tune of “Once in Royal David’s City.” I call my version:

Once in Loyal David’s Fishbowl

Once in loyal David’s Fishbowl, Stood a lowly business on the brink. Where another’d throw in the towel, David stopped to really, really think: “Even though the chips are down, I think I can turn this place around.” He came up to Orem from Provo, Though he didn’t know about software, And his workers must have thought: “Oh no, Another leader who won’t really care.” But he did a miracle And made Fishbowl profitable. Then one day he heard a troubling story [That] threatened to destroy all he’d done. The investor wanted back his money. [So] to save Fishbowl, David had to run. Just in time he got a loan [By] risking everything he owned. Here we are eighteen months later Free of debt to Zions Bank. We returned that loan, which was our savior, And we have our David to thank. So he leads his employees on, And we know Fishbowl will stay strong. Merry Christmas from everyone here at Fishbowl! May this holiday and New Year bring happiness to you and your family.
